As a 15 yr old from Kashmir on a road trip, I was rummaging through a sidewalk market in Kathmandu. I happened upon a cassette tape, an album that was my introduction to Western music. That album was "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy stardust and the Spiders from Mars" by David Bowie. Bowie's music opened a new doorway and inspired a new direction for me. That chance encounter had a long and profound effect on who I became and where I ended up. It made me think of this universe in a more expansive way.
Today, we may be on the cusp of finding life elsewhere in the Universe.
Most of these images were shot in the beautiful and unique death valley, which made me imagine what it would be like to step on another planet and bring the "spiders from Mars" home.
This series is my homage to David Bowie and the Spiders from Mars.
